Flamenco guitar Gerundino Fernández 1962

This flamenco guitar was made in 1962 by Gerundino Fernández, a prestigious guitar maker, born in Almería. He is regarded as one of the best guitar makers ever, despite the facts of being self-taught and leading a bohemian life in his last years. His guitars have been present in stages all over with guitar performers like Paco Peña, Tomatito, Raimundo Amador…

This flamenco guitar belongs to the first period of the maker. He consolidated his talent to become one of the best guitar makers of that time, due to the quality of his intruments and his really personal and flamenco timbre his instruments had. It has been built with carefully selected woods: the top is made of german spruce, with a straight, even and very marked grain along its whole surface, whereas perfect Brazilian rosewwod has been chosen for the back and sides.

The tension of the guitar is medium, and the height of the strings in saddle and fingerboard perfect, really balanced, which grants the performer a high degree of comfort for both hands.

This guitar is presents two cracks on the soundboard and its varnishing has been brushed up. This restoration has been performed preserving and respecting originality and the thickness of the wood..

The center join of the soundboard was unglued

Due to water damage, the bridge was loose and also part of the bindings and purflings. In many areas the varnished needed repair.

The guitar had very worn frets
